The air is clean and crisp. The surrounding Cascade Mountains are blanketed in deep, fresh snow. Icicles freeze and thaw with the sun’s rhythm illuminating the twinkle of seemingly weightless snowflakes hanging in the sky. The river’s warm breath drapes its edges in a soft haze. Nestled in the heart of all this winter beauty, Leavenworth is a top Holiday season destination. Every winter the “Village of Lights” comes alive during the Holidays for a unique winter experience and the opportunity to create a lifetime of memories.
Leavenworth hosts four Holiday festivals each year. Things kick off November 24-26 with Christkindlmarkt. Christkindlemarkt is an Annual Bavarian-style Christmas Market for the whole family and is held in Front Street Park and also in the Leavenworth Festhalle. This popular and celebrated northwest tradition features delicious and authentic Bavarian foods, handmade arts & crafts and other gifts, and family-friendly, Bavarian- and Christmas-themed entertainment. Christkindlmarkt is followed by Leavenworth’s grand Christmas Lighting Festival December 1-3, 8-10, and 15-17. During Christmas Lighting, the quaint Bavarian village is transformed into a dazzling array of over 500,000 Christmas lights with live music, a special visit from Santa Claus, and more fun for the whole family. January 13-14, Leavenworth plays host to the Bavarian Ice Festival. A celebration of the winter season, this is a great weekend to make family memories including snow sculptures, sled pulls, live ice carving, Stevens Pass kids Playground, and the only annual firework show in Leavenworth. Also, you can still enjoy the beauty of the 500,000 lights still twinkling every night from Thanksgiving thru Valentine’s Day. Our last winter fest is January 26-27 at the Timbrrr! Music Festival. Created as the winter counterpart to the very successful Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, Timbrrr! is two days/nights of music and wintertime fun.
