LEAVENWORTH’S BAVARIAN ICE FEST AND PLANNED FIREWORKS IN JANUARY ARE ALSO OFFICIALLY CANCELED
In addition to the Bavarian Ice Festival, the planned 5-minute firework shows on the four remaining Saturdays in January have been officially canceled due to COVID-19.
When the fireworks were scheduled and permitted in October with the City of Leavenworth, our COVID-19 cases were improving at that time and the Chamber was hopeful we would be able to provide some small, celebratory firework displays for 2021.
Throughout the pandemic the Chamber has strategically evaluated our festivals, events, concerts and performances to align with the current Covid-19 status in our area and have canceled all of them out of precaution. With the current Governor’s restrictions now being extended through January 11th, moving forward simply isn’t prudent.
If you are hearing about fireworks for the first time in this message that is because, with increasing cases in the state and county in late November and December, the opportunity to promote the fireworks never materialized.
As previously planned, Leavenworth’s stunning Village of Lights will continue to illuminate the town, with over half a million lights, nightly through Valentine’s Day. If your path leads you to Leavenworth, we ask that you wear your facemask and socially distance yourself from others outside your party. Expect to encounter a reduction in occupancy at restaurants and shops in accordance with Chelan County’s current COVID-19 guidelines. If you need a mask, you can get a free one at our Visitor Center.
