It’s no secret that Leavenworth is a social place and we like to gather.

We celebrate together, generation after generation during our amazing festivals.

We share a table and make new friends over a brat and a beer or a good glass of locally made wine.

We find any reason to get outside on the river, in the mountains, around the parks, soaking up the sun and the epic views for days.

But as things are changing Leavenworth is adapting. We have implemented new practices and guidelines in and around town at restaurants, shops, and businesses that are open now in Phase 2 and those getting ready to open.

Here is what you can expect:

We’ve closed Front Street every day of the week to vehicle traffic, leaving lots more space for pedestrian traffic. Spread out and enjoy the truly European feel of our open walking area and colorful park and flower baskets. For your convenience, you will notice hand sanitizer stations around town. Parking is still available at all City lots and other downtown streets and side streets.

If you forget to bring your mask, you’ll find friendly faces and free masks all week at the Visitor Center. With the recent statewide mandate by the Governor’s office, masks are now required inside public places and are also required in outside public places if you cannot socially distance. We want you to feel safe and happy so you can enjoy your time with us.

Restaurants get to seat you now at limited occupancy with social distancing and they are happy to have you dine-in. Tip a little extra if you can, this has been hard for them. If take-out is more your speed they are happy to oblige.

Shops will be welcoming you with open doors and a little more space to keep you comfortably shopping for those unique finds. Bring a Leavenworth treasure home with you; we want our businesses to stay with us. Look for those 6-foot spacing markers that we are all getting familiar with, X marks the spot as they say!

Recreation and tours have resumed on the river, golf courses, zip lines, ranches, and farms. They are adjusting their operations to welcome you with all the fun in smaller groups so you can enjoy our wide-open spaces and fresh mountain air!

Our trails and mountains are certainly calling but do recreate responsibly. Trailheads may not have parking open or facilities yet, so please pack out what you bring and keep your distance, shouldn’t be too hard. If a trail looks busy please look for another one, with over 800 miles of trails in our area it shouldn’t be hard to find another one. Everyone is itching to get out and enjoy nature so let’s do it right!

As our select businesses welcome you please continue to practice social distancing and smile, even behind your mask, we are surely grinning ear to ear to have you back in our little town. Let’s all be patient and kind, this is new for everyone.
