US Highway 2 Travel Update (per WSDOT): Stevens Pass Access and Leavenworth Detour Information

• Highway 2 is now open across Stevens Pass with no pilot car restrictions. Travelers can drive continuously from the west side of the pass through to Coles Corner (MP 85).

• The detour to Leavenworth via Coles Corner (around MP 84) remains in place, routing travelers onto Chumstick Highway, a rural road with lower speeds and bridge restrictions. WSDOT will maintain 24-hour flagger-controlled traffic on the Beaver Hill section of Chumstick Highway near Plain due to a recent small landslide. Expect delays and plan extra travel time until Tumwater Canyon reopens in early March. Please follow all posted speed limits.

**WSDOT advises that US 2 is not the best option for cross-state travel at this time due to ongoing restrictions and the Chumstick Highway detour.

For a smoother east–west trip, I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 97 Blewett Pass, or SR 28 through Quincy are better alternatives right now.

What remains closed:

• US 2 through Tumwater Canyon (MP 85–99) remains closed and is expected to stay closed through mid-March.

Important reminders!

Always check current pass conditions before traveling — winter conditions can change quickly.
