AlpenFolk

With authentic instruments, singing and yodeling, AlpenFolk presents the music and folklore of the Alps. They offer alpine music the way it was meant to be played – the way it is played today in rustic inns and mountain chalets of Bavaria, Tyrol, Styria and throughout the Alps!

Leavenworth Alphorns

The Leavenworth Alphorns perform on a regular basis in Leavenworth. Look for them at festivals, civic events and, of course, at our Saturday serenades, May through September.

Bonnie Birch Trio

The Bonnie Birch Trio has been performing together for 25 years. Bonnie Birch, a virtuoso accordionist in the Northwest who plays many styles of music including Oktoberfest music, is joined by Nick Heiting (guitar, vocals) born in Munich, Germany who speaks and sings in fluent German, Paul Ostler (tubab) a superb musician with a background of 20 years performing in the Navy band all over the world.

Robert Baumann

Robert Baumann played his first professional accordion gig at age 12 and has been playing professionally at restaurants, wineries and private events ever since for the past 60+ years!

He played upright bass for 30-years with Leavenworth’s beloved Alpine music group, AlpenFolk, and is delighted to be back in town entertaining Leavenworth guests on accordion with his broad background of Bavarian & Austrian music.

Robert speaks German fluently and his music provides the perfect ambience for guests visiting our amazing Bavarian Village.

Max Kyllonen

A Leavenworth native, Max started playing accordion when he was 6 years old. Endeavoring to find greater depth in his accordion obsession, he switched to the button box at age 14 and began taking lessons annually with his esteemed Bavarian music teacher, Hans Auer. Over 30 years later, Max performs in Leavenworth, Bavaria, Austria, and Northern Italy regularly for tourists world-wide.

Musikkapelle

This Bavarian Village town band, began in 1996. And is typical of town bands of Bavaria. The repertoire consists of over one hundred arrangements from Germany and marches, waltzes and polkas typical of Bavaria. Like German village bands, members of Musikkapelle Leavenworth come from a wide area and are under the direction of “Kapellemeister” Chris Shimer.

Chris Barnes

Chris was born and raised in the Seattle area. He began teaching himself the diatonic button accordion (button box) in 1974 on a small 2-row (of buttons) instrument. He soon progressed to a 3-row and eventually in 2006, to the 4-row instrument he plays today. For many years he’s played for a Bavarian folk dance group and also for dances, workshops, high school German language camps, competitions (here and abroad), and the occasional restaurant and party.

Although he plays other regional genre of music, Chris’ primary focus is the traditional folk music of Bavaria and Austria. He continues to add tunes to his repertoire, and innovations to his technique, in hopes of keeping his music fresh and enjoyable for his audience.
