Chris was born and raised in the Seattle area. He began teaching himself the diatonic button accordion (button box) in 1974 on a small 2-row (of buttons) instrument. He soon progressed to a 3-row and eventually in 2006, to the 4-row instrument he plays today.
For many years he’s played for a Bavarian folk dance group. -Also for dances, workshops, high school German language camps, competitions (here and abroad), and the occasional restaurant and party.
Although he plays other regional genres of music, Chris’ primary focus is the traditional folk music of Bavaria and Austria. He continues to add tunes to his repertoire, and innovations to his technique, in hopes of keeping his music fresh and enjoyable for his audience.
