We’ve been doing Maifest right since 1971! This weekend will fill your entertainment card right up with Maipole dancing, Bavarian music, our annual Festzug (or Grand March) where town folk dress in their Bavarian best to welcome you to town and includes the Bernese Mountain dogs, and so much more! We love our Bavarian traditions and this weekend is full of them.

Noon-6 PM: Live Accordion Music at the Gazebo

Saturday, May 10

11 AM – 8 PM: Traditional Dancing and Music at the Gazebo
Festzug | 12:00 PM
Grand March of townsfolk, entertainers, Royal Lady of the
Autumn Leaves, and Bernese Mountain dogs.

Sunday, May 11

8 AM: Mai Blumenlauf 5k/10k/Half Marathon
May Flower Run (formerly known as Mother’s Day 5k).

Event Series Maifest: Chainsaw Carving

Live Chainsaw Carving for Maifest

Downtown Leavenworth 820 Front Street, Leavenworth, WA, United States

Join us on Front Street where professional chainsaw carvers will create large-scale, German-inspired carvings. These renowned carvers, local to the Pacific Northwest, will use a variety of chainsaws and other special tools to create their masterpieces. Between live carving times, they will be selling their other pieces and talking with customers and live music will be playing in the Gazebo. 

Live Carving Times*:
11:00 – 11:30 AM
1:15 – 1:45 PM
3:30 – 4:00 PM

In between carving sessions, enjoy AlpenFolk playing the music of the Alps from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM and the Leavenworth Alphorns from 3:00 – 3:30 PM at the Front St Park Gazsebo.

Following the live carving weekend, these carved masterpieces will be on display around town and up for auction! Visit LeavenworthChamber.org/carving-fundraiser for details!

Village of Lights: Christmastown 2025

Every winter Leavenworth shines bright with over half a million lights from 6 AM until 11 PM each day from Thanksgiving thru the last day of February! There is no charge to visit Leavenworth and see the lights, so plan to visit our beautiful Bavarian Alpine Village – it’s like living inside a magical snow globe!

  • Strolling Carolers in the downtown village!

  • Fun Activities in the Leavenworth Festhalle – Gingerbread House Exhibition, Crafts for Kids, Story Corner, Santa Costumes from Around the World, Photo Opportunities, Letters to Santa, Gift Wrapping Station, Hot Cocoa and Snacks, Official Merchandise, and more! If you want to see the Christmastown lights with snow and enjoy the town without the large crowds, January or February is a great time to come! The lights are on every day thru the end of February.
