Village of Lights: Winter Karneval

The Village of Lights continues! Our famous Christmas lights are on every day from approximately 6 am – 11 pm.

Come join us this January for Leavenworthā€™s Winter Karneval as we honor a German tradition dating back to the thirteenth century, commonly called ā€˜Faschingā€™. You can expect to see a blend of familiar activities, like ice carving and fireworks over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, along with new entertainment spread throughout the month, making Leavenworth the perfect winter destination all month long.

Go birding with knowledgeable WRI staff around the WRI campus! All birding skill levels are welcome. Need binoculars? We have loaner binoculars that you can borrow.

This is a great opportunity to learn about eBird, the largest biodiversity-related community science project in the world, and utilize it to record our observations of local wild birds. Total walking distance is Ā½ mile, over a gravel path with two moderate hills. Come prepared for the weather. These walks will happen on the second Wednesday of each month for the whole year. Join us for as many as you can!

Trail difficulty level: beginner
Trail is wide enough for ADA access, but trails are gravel
Bathrooms available at the start and end of the walk

Meet outside the River Haus at 8am and plan to be finished by 9:30am. This is a FREE event and no registration is needed.

Make Your Own Glass Fusing Workshop at Boulder Bend Glassworks

Design your own glass fusing in a variety of shapes using colorful hand-pulled cane and murrine made at our studio. No plate glass used here!

The workshop is available 10 am to 3 pm. Generally, participants take 40 to 90 minutes to design their glass piece.

Available for ages 7 and up. Participants under 18 require a parent or guardian.
