Create a lovely winter wreath with Alpenglö Living owner Hannah Dewey. We will use foraged forest and garden materials to create a stunning holiday wreath. Class includes materials, appetizers and wine or n/a beverages.

Join Wenatchee River Institute this winter season to create your own holiday wreath to take home. Come prepared to experiment with a variety of foraged materials such as lichens, evergreen branches, dried flower stems, pinecones, berries, dried leaves, and citrus slices. All the materials we will use have been gathered around WRI’s campus and surrounding areas by the Land Steward, with all of the wreath bases being handmade from ponderosa pine and/or the weeping willow at the entrance to WRI! You can expect a fun gathering learning from WRI’s Land Steward to make an artistic, nature inspired, compostable wreath.
Your beautiful creations will be fully compostable and can be dropped off at WRI for disposal. If you would like to bring some non-compostable garnishments from home to add to your wreath, just make sure to remove them before composting.
This event will take place inside a heated building with seating available for those who need it. Bathrooms are onsite. Our building and bathrooms are both ADA accessible.

After a summer of overcrowding and understaffing in The Enchantments, the issue of day use management has reached an inflection point. Will this offseason present an opportunity to make changes along the Icicle Creek corridor, and if so, what will they entail? Hear from Seattle Times outdoors reporter Gregory Scruggs, who covered the issue closely this summer and traveled to Colorado to learn how another mountain town grappled with a similar challenge, along with Mat Lyons, Executive Director of TREAD, who has been working with Chelan County stakeholders on a proposal for alternative transportation options to Enchantments trailheads, and Sarah Shaffer, Executive Director of Wenatchee Outdoors, who will share insights on the on-the-ground work with over 40 volunteers in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, packing out pounds of trash from the Enchantments Wilderness area.

During this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to choose and create your own unique glass piece(s) under the guidance of Craig or Jori. Each participant will enjoy a hands-on experience in the hot shop, witnessing the transformation of molten glass into a stunning work of art.
Book multiple sessions and bring friends or family to share in the fun of glassblowing. We offer this interactive experience most Saturdays, with approximately 60-90 minute sessions for 1-2 participants available throughout the day. The project choices will change every few months with the holidays and seasons. Minimum age 14.

About Fontanini:
The Fontanini Nativity story began in 1908, when Emanuele Fontanini started crafting nativity figures by hand in a tiny workshop in Bagni di Lucca, Italy. Four generations later, his great-grandchildren are still carrying on the tradition—creating beautifully detailed, hand-painted figures that bring the Christmas story to life. The pieces represent a family legacy of art, faith, and craftsmanship that’s lasted more than a century.
We’d love to introduce you to Emanuele Fontanini this Friday and help you pick a special piece that becomes part of your holiday tradition through the generations.
