Join the Northwest Avalanche Center for a free introductory avalanche safety class. Learn how to recognize avalanche danger and access forecasts. Open to all winter recreationists. Registration required. This presentation takes place in the Red Barn with no fieldwork.

Spend two full days in the greater Leavenworth area, with professional wildlife tracker, naturalist, educator and author, David Moskowitz. This wildlife track and sign evaluation is offered through CyberTracker North America. David’s approach to this class is highly interactive, engaging participants in identification and interpretation of tracks and signs. There is lots of time for questions and discussion is built in. The style of this class is an excellent way to learn about animal sign and investigate real life tracking scenarios. Participants have the chance to achieve a certificate and are awarded on three levels.

During this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to choose and create your own unique glass piece(s) under the guidance of Craig or Jori. Each participant will enjoy a hands-on experience in the hot shop, witnessing the transformation of molten glass into a stunning work of art.
Book multiple sessions and bring friends or family to share in the fun of glassblowing. We offer this interactive experience most Saturdays, with approximately 60-90 minute sessions for 1-2 participants available throughout the day. The project choices will change every few months with the holidays and seasons. Minimum age 14.
Prices are $300 per session. Sign up today via our website or in person. Advance reservations highly recommended, but limited walk-ins are welcome on a space availability basis.

In this workshop we will combine the science of lichenology with the joy of artistic creativity. We will cover 20 terms that describe the different structures and forms of lichen. We’ll illustrate them in a booklet that participants can take home for future reference.
We will cover the basic anatomy, forms, and other specialized structures that are important when identifying lichens. Combining art with science is a great way to learn and retain new information. If you are lichen-curious, this workshop is a can’t miss!
Microscopes, specimens, visual aids, paper, and drawing supplies will be provided. All skill levels welcome!
