    Due to the significant and ongoing impact of recent weather events in Leavenworth, Washington, the Village of Lights display in Front Street Park for the Christmastown festival will not be illuminated this weekend. Please read the Joint Press Release here for further details.

    Costume characters, including Santa Claus, will not appear this weekend.

    Food vendors will be open in Front Street Park. 

    Once power returns, we will open the Festhalle, where you can get out of the weather and enjoy free crafts, coloring, a gingerbread house exhibition, photo opportunities, among other activities.

    Every winter, Leavenworth shines bright with over half a million lights from 6 AM until 11 PM each day from Thanksgiving through the last day of February! There is no charge to visit Leavenworth and see the lights, so plan to visit our beautiful Bavarian Alpine Village—it’s like living inside a magical snow globe!

    This year, we are excited to bring back:

    • Gazebo entertainment, including choirs, bands, musicians, carolers, and more, every weekend, Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve!
      • Fridays, 4:00-8:00 PM
      • Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Arrival of Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and friends every weekend from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve!
      • Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 PM (noon) at the Gazebo
    • Photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus every day from the day after Thanksgiving until Dec 23rd!
      • Mondays-Fridays, 2:00-2:45 PM along Front Street and at the Gazebo, and 3:00-4:00 PM in the Festhalle
      • Saturdays-Sundays, 12:00-1:30 PM at the Gazebo, and 2:00-4:00 PM in the Festhalle
    • Strolling Carolers in the downtown village!
      • Mondays-Thursdays, 5:00-7:00 PM (No carolers Christmas Eve)
    • Fun Activities in the Leavenworth Festhalle – Gingerbread House Exhibition (Starting December 4), Crafts for Kids, Story Corner, Santa Costumes from Around the World, Photo Opportunities, Letters to Santa, Free Gift Wrapping, Hot Cocoa and Snacks, Official Merchandise, and more! Plus, the Festhalle is a great place to warm up!

    INSIDER TIP! If you want to see the Christmastown lights with snow and enjoy the town without the large crowds, January or February is a great time to come! The lights are on every day through the end of February.

  • 2025 Leavenworth Christmas Bird Count

    Wenatchee River Institute is participating in the Leavenworth Christmas Bird Count this year!

    The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a nationwide community science effort to count birds that has been happening for over 120 years. It is organized by the National Audubon Society, and local counts are compiled by regional Audubon chapters, community members, or organizations like WRI. Specific counts occur on one day in a 15-mile diameter circle around a town, and the Leavenworth count is happening on Tuesday, December 16th!

    There are plenty of routes to cover and lots of space for volunteer leaders or beginning birders to join in. If you’d like to participate, please RSVP above and we will send out more information the week before. You do not have to participate for the entire time.

    This is a great opportunity to both volunteer for this amazing community science project as well as learn from fellow community members. There is no cost to participate.

    Join Southern Oregon Artist, Rosie Taylor for an evening of Craft and Craft at Bushel and Bee. Grab a pint and cozy up and learn how to carve your own Lino block and print your own holiday and greeting cards. Rosie will take you through the step by step process on how to transfer your image of choice, carve and print.
    Pre-drawn images will be included as well as blank paper if makers decide to create their own.

    Includes: 4×6 block, tools, ink, and blank cards for printing final image

    Interactive glassblowing experience at Boulder Bend Glassworks.

    During this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to choose and create your own unique glass piece(s) under the guidance of Craig or Jori. Each participant will enjoy a hands-on experience in the hot shop, witnessing the transformation of molten glass into a stunning work of art.

    Book multiple sessions and bring friends or family to share in the fun of glassblowing. We offer this interactive experience most Saturdays, with approximately 60-90 minute sessions for 1-2 participants available throughout the day. The project choices will change every few months with the holidays and seasons. Minimum age 14.
